“See what Great Love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called the children of God! And that is what we are!…” – 1st John 3:1 (NIV)
Love, by definition, is an intense feeling of deep affection for something or someone. There are many types and forms of love. This powerful universal language and its expressions vary from culture to culture. I tell you, everything we do should be done with love, but is this happening in our society today? You don’t have to look very far to find the answer. The world definitely needs more of this fundamental attribute in operation, and what better example than that of Christ?
His love is called Agape. It is a Heavenly love. No other love can be compared to it. It is unconditional, meaning you don’t have to work for it or earn it. It’s the highest form of love, selfless and sacrificial. It’s God’s Love – wonderful, divine, limitless, unbreakable, and most of all perfect as stated in 1st John 4:18.
The love of God is a love with an eternal inheritance to all who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. This is the criteria for becoming God’s children. Believers are simply sinners saved by the grace of God the Father, through faith in God the Son, Jesus Christ. As children of God, we get the benefits of a love that is showered on us without measure.
Further, God Himself is love, as 1st John 4:16 emphatically states. To know God is to know love. This is His nature. You can experience this immeasurable love every day for the rest of your life. No one in this world is capable of loving us to that degree, absolutely none. God’s love is steadfast and constant; that’s the reason why, from the beginning of time, God the Father sent God the Son, Jesus Christ, the second person of the Trinity, into this world as a love offering to mankind. God’s choice to have a relationship with us is a gift of His care for us. This sense of belonging, the world cannot understand and cannot give.
Children of God, keep serving Jesus with all your heart and allow that same love that has been poured upon you by our forever faithful Father to influence the people you come into contact with, so they, too, can benefit from such love. It is the best thing you could ever do.
